SMG chams for Tarkov: console commands, role colours and PMC marks

Chams highlight player models through walls. They are configured with console commands rather than a menu — the console opens with the tilde key. Below are all commands with their defaults, the role colour scheme and the way to mark a PMC as friendly.

Installation and launch are identical for every SMG product and covered separately: preparing Windows, the loader and the spoofer. This page is only about the chams themselves.

Console commands

Type them into the in-game console. Defaults are shown in brackets.

chams 1/0 (1) — player highlighting, the main switch;
chams.weapon 1/0 (0) — highlight the weapon in the player's hands;
chams.distance meters (500) — how far living players are highlighted;
chams.dead 1/0 (0) — highlight corpses;
chams.dead.distance meters (250) — corpse highlighting distance.

Lowering the distance pays off indoors: at 500 metres the screen fills with highlights through several walls, which hurts more than it helps in close quarters.

The Arena build

The EFT Arena build has a slightly different set. There are no corpse commands, but there is a teammate switch:

chams.team 1/0 (0) — show teammates or not.

The other three — chams, chams.weapon and chams.distance — behave the same way.

Marking a PMC

Chams can split living players into friends and enemies, and you do it in the raid with gestures:

the Greetings gesture marks a PMC as friendly;
the Fuck You gesture marks them as an enemy.

Useful when you run in a squad: marked allies stop blending in with strangers under the same highlight.

Role colours

PMC — green or purple;
bots — light blue;
bosses — red;
boss followers and Black Division — pink;
Scavs — yellow;
friendly NPCs, Russian forces and their snipers — dark green.

If nothing is highlighted

First check that the console opens at all and that chams 1 was typed without a slip. Then make sure the game had fully loaded before you pressed F2. If that does not help, go back to preparing the system: an antivirus left half-removed or another game's anti-cheat is the usual culprit. Still stuck — message support.
